Proposal for Instructional Design
Participants: This proposal is geared towards Horry County Schools teachers in my school building. These teachers experience level ranges from 0 years of experience to 30 years of experience. One shared component of all the teachers is they must deal with the daunting task of instructing their students via direct instructions and virtual instruction while keeping instruction engaging and creating a virtual environment that is conducive to learning. With the current pandemic is full effect school reopenings may be hybrid, virtual, or brick and mortar. This can also change week to week. Educators must be able to adapt and adjust along with having the knowledge of available resources that can aid them.
Content/Advisors/Delivery Model: Educators (teachers at my school) wil be able to join live virtual sessions on tech tools that will aid them in instructing effectively in a virtual, hybrid, or brick and mortar classroom. I will also create instructional videos with talking heads for educators to go back and review if needed. Sessions must be virtual to begin with because of the pandemic and social gathering requirements. Any participants who need one on one attention will be able to have a one on one in person workshop with a face mask. I consulted with the Instructional Coach at my school, Mrs. Garrity, and she helped me to come up with an idea of how I could use my platform to help students during this untraditional school year due to Covid. Throughout this process I will too consult with our schools appointed Digital Integration Specialist, Mrs. Holly. Mrs. Garrity, Instructional Coach, will serve as supervisor since she is in the school house everyday and can participate and evaluate my sessions.
Needs based assessment:I will utilize the instructional design process called JIT (just in time training). I will have focus group interviews with a few of my teacher colleagues. This type of instructional design process will allow for higher participation since participants will see it as being highly relevant to them. This information will allow me to better talor my sessions to the needs of the participants.
Assessment: I will utilize the LMS of Google Classroom to house all meeting material (videos, links, etc). Participants will join said google classroom. At the conclusion of each session participants will submit an assignment that shows their proficiency pertaining to the subject at hand. Participants will also give feedback after each session.
Learning Outcomes:
- Develop a shared vision to lead an instructional technology innovation to improve teaching, learning and performance for a professional audience.
Proposal: I plan to utilize information from the needs assessment to taylor my sessions so that they may be able to implement said tech tools to improve the struggles of my fellow teacher colleagues.
- Collaborate with decision-makers to evaluate and select technology tools and strategies that improve teaching, learning and performance.
Proposal: I will be utilizing the Instructional Coach and Digital Integration Specialist at my school to help me coach teachers on technology tools that will aid my colleagues in their classroom struggles this year. Technology tools will be chosen based on the results of the needs assessment.
- Conduct needs assessments to inform the design of technology enhanced learning experiences for professional audiences.

- Design, develop and implement technology enhanced learning experiences that demonstrate best practices for adult learners.
Proposal: Since these sessions are pertaining to educators and the struggles they are currently facing in the classroom this has to be a hands on experience. Participants will join our “Tech” googleclassroom that will house links, tutorial videos, recorded sessions, and assignments that allow them to showcase what they learned by submitting their work.
- Evaluate the results of technology enhanced learning experiences for professional audiences to measure impact and guide future improvement.
Proposal: At the conclusion of each session participants will submit their assignment that showcases knowledge of the tech tool that was discussed. Participants will also participate in a survey expressing how they will utilize this tool in their classroom. There will be opportunities for one on one sessions if needed to meet the needs of all participants.
- Apply best practices in effective project management to an instructional technology innovation initiative.
Proposal: All information will be chunked to avoid cognitive overload. Teachers will be able to revert back to google classroom if remediation is needed, hence why all materials (video, links, previous sessions) will be housed in google classroom.
- Demonstrate continuous evaluation of professional knowledge and practices to improve the design, development and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences
Proposal: Feedback survey will be issued after each session. I will work closely with teachers who need help catering tech tools to their group of diverse learners.
